Church Family,
On Wednesday evening while driving home I started experiencing some chest pains that grew in intensity. Diane had to call EMS and I was transported to the hospital. Thankfully, the blood work and other tests came back clean (no heart attack). Based upon the symptoms that I was presenting the Dr. encouraged me to have a stress test as soon as possible. Unfortunately, as of this morning I am still experiencing chest pains. I do have an appointment for today at 2:00 p.m. and would like to ask for everyone’s prayer for that appointment. Until then, the Doctor has asked me to rest until more testing can be done.
Obviously, there is never a good time for something like this to happen but right now we have several families that have been impacted by the death of a loved one. Please remember Jackie Parker and Mandy Harrell in the loss of their father and Glenda White in the loss of her mother. Also pray for Bruce Gore and Jane Seitter who have been hospitalized as well as their families.
Along with all of this, the church was also hit with a catastrophic lightning strike Wednesday night that damaged several components in multiple buildings. As you know this has been something that we have experienced on multiple occasions, and we are doing due diligence to try and find a solution that will prove to be better in the future. I think it goes without saying that we as a church need to be praying and praying fervently. This is nothing short of a spiritual battle and an attack of the enemy. We must not waiver in standing strong and relying upon the power of God to show forth!
1. We face a formidable but defeated foe.
And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossians 2:15
2. God will always give us the power to resist the schemes of the enemy — if we choose.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
3. We fight from victory, not for victory.
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.1 John 4:4
4. Pray intensely and strategically.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18
Finally, let me share a verse that I recommend you put to memory and say to yourself every time you discern the Enemy has you in his sights.
5. Our identity is in the One who loves us and has sacrificed for us.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:37
We are more than conquerors!
