In this Wednesday-night study from Becoming a Missional Church, Paul's example in 1 Corinthians 9:19–23 challenges believers to put reaching people ahead of personal preferences. Biblical truth and the gospel must never change, but ministry methods should be evaluated and adapted to serve the mission. This is the first part of a two-part study.

STUDY OUTLINE

1. Kingdom-minded believers value people more than personal rights. Paul willingly surrendered freedoms that could hinder the gospel. Jesus models the servant-hearted life.

2. Kingdom-minded believers adapt their methods without compromising their message. The study distinguishes biblical convictions from preferences about schedules, music, facilities, communication, and church traditions. The Jerusalem Council and cross-cultural missions illustrate removing unnecessary barriers while remaining faithful to Scripture.

Discussion and application: What would we willingly give up to help someone come to faith in Christ? Which practices are biblical commands, and which are traditions? Evaluate ministry methods by faithfulness to Scripture, spiritual fruit, and whether they help reach the community—not merely by whether we prefer them.
